3.1.1 California Institute of Technology (1981–1983)

As Susan Keefe was wrapping up her doctoral work, she secured a post-doctoral teaching fellowship in the History department of Caltech in Pasadena, CA. She taught survey courses in European history, including Medieval and Early Modern Europe, 800–1700 (History 1a) and Europe from the French Revolution to the Age of Imperialism, 1789-1914 (History 1b). She also developed a seminar more closely related to her specialization, choosing the title Ritual and Society in the Middle Ages.
