4.1 Faculty Research Grant, Davidson College, 1985

In the autumn of 1984, Dr. Keefe applied for a grant to study manuscripts in European libraries. In the summer of 1985, she was able to use the funds she was awarded, traveling to libraries in Paris, Troyes, Laon, Orleans, Lyon, Albi, Barcelona, Madrid, the Vatican City, and Milan. She later described the visit as "highly successful, in that not I only was permitted access to all the manuscripts I hoped to see, but also found several new manuscripts to add to my inventory." The research and new microfilm would all contribute to her revised dissertation, which would eventually be published by Notre Dame as Water and the Word.
