Doctor of Ministry Program

Doctor of Ministry Program

Duke Divinity School's first cohort of Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) students began their courses of study in 2011. The program enrolls pastors and lay leaders of Christian churches and institutions in a format that combines distance learning and short periods of residency on campus, to the end that students can engage in further theological formation and work toward their doctorate without leaving their positions. The D.Min. program culminates in the original and independent research and writing of a substantial and academically rigorous thesis that ultimately aims to be "of value to the church and its ministries."
