Abstract:
In this photograph virtually the entire Precinct of Athena is visible. The tree in the center of the photo is near a dais that would have displayed a statue. The people in the center are standing on the steps/foundation of the Temple itself. The red structure in the center rear is the (Roman?) addition to the Hellenistic theatre which descends down the incline behind it. The stoa on the right fronts several buildings. It runs in front of the library (in front of the tree on the far right of the photo and not in the shot, and a Hellenist era residence behind that tree on the far right just in front of the people standing on the pedestrian access modern walkway.
