<description>Twelve little lead pencils
The author tells his life story from his earliest childhood to his retirement. He was born in Rockingham County, N.C. in 1891. He attended Elon College (graduating in 1917) and Princeton and was ordained as a minister in the Christian Church. He served as a minister to various congregations in North Carolina and Virginia and also served as the director of the Elon Homes for Children in the 1950s. His memoir is interspersed with original poems. See also the John Galloway Truitt, Sr. scrapbook (#006) in the Elon Scrapbook collection in the university archives, Elon University.
