Description In this town there was a French Catholic church now turned into a museum with a wonderful collection of Christian tomb mosaics, all from Uppena or the Basilica of Sidi Abich (near Enfida, but now gone). The Christian mosaics (s. V) are often arranged in the museum with a pagan votive stele under them. One of these stele was inscribed: "LNUMITORIUS FELIX BURRI SACERDOS SATURNI AUG VOTA SOLVIT FELICITER." This tomb mosaic is the very tombstone of Paulus, Primate of Mauretania, who went to the General Synod convoked at Carthage by the Vandal King Huneric in 484, after which he was exiled to and died in Uppena. "HEC SUNT NOMINA MARTIRUM: PETRUS, PAULUS, SATURNINUS PRESBITER, IDEM SATURNINUS BINDEMIUS, SATURNINUS DONATUS, SATURNINUS GUDUDA(?), PAULA CLARA LUCILLA FORTUNIA DER(?) CECILIUS EMILIUS PASSIDIE NONA AGUSTAS DEPOSITI 5(?) IDUS NOBEMBRES GLORIA IN ESCE."
