Description | Near metro stop Carthage-Amilcar. Basilica of St. Cyprian (end of s. III) where Cyprian was buried or honored. Augustine's mother, Monica, prayed here when Augustine left Africa. Apse in foreground. Broken columns are lying in the apse and nave, hidden in very tall grass. At the edge of the meadow in the background is a great cliff with a beach and the sea below, an incredible view all the way toward Sicily. | |
