Abstract:
View from North Gallery looking across nave toward South Gallery. Down in the nave the little square building/platform is the Ottoman era Müezzin Mahfihli from which the muezzin would provide responses to the Imam. Also the square containing circular tiles on the floor is known as the omphalion or coronation square which, during the Byzantine Empire, marks the spot upon which the emperors were crowned.
