Abstract:
The apse of the Hagia Sophia, Istanbul Turkey feature a mosaic of the Virgin Mary and Christ Child from the period when the building functioned as a Christian church during the Byzantine Empire, and Arabic medallions (the left Mohammed and the right Allah) from the period when the facility served as an Islamic mosque during the Ottoman Empire.
