dc.description.abstract Constructed by Constantine, the Hagia Irene (Church of Holy Peace) was the site of the second ecumenical council (381CE). Destroyed by fire, it was restored in the 6th century by Justinian. Then, destroyed by earthquake, the present structure primarily dates to the 8th Ctry. en_US
